Matilda Lavender Soap

$7.25

Matilda Sissieretta Joyner Jones (1869-1933) was an African American soprano. During her lifetime, she sang for four sitting U.S presidents and the British Royal Family. She was the highest paid African American performer of her time.

Lavender was a popular fragrance during the Victorian era. It was infused in oils and bath waters, and even Queen Victoria was fond of it.

Many skincare recipes of the time called for almond oil, wax, and spermaceti oil. Several decades ago, sperm whale oil was outlawed and meadowfoam seed oil was created to replace it. I have incorporated sweet almond oil, beeswax, and meadowfoam seed oil into this soap as an homage to skincare rituals of the time.

Net wt.: 4oz/113g

Ingredients: Sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, water, castor oil, sodium hydroxide, meadowfoam seed oil, lavender essential oil, beeswax, alkanet root powder.

My soaps are handmade, which means that each one is unique and varies depending on the batch. I recommend you drain out any soap dish you use to avoid your soap dissolving faster. Any handmade cold process soap should be stored in a dry area when not in use.
