Florence Castile Soap
Florence Nightingale (1820-1910) was an English social reformer, statistician, and the founder of modern nursing. In 1860 she established the first secular nursing school in the world at St. Thomas Hospital in London. Every year, International Nurses Day is celebrated on her birthday.
In 1839, James S. Kirk founded Kirk's Castile Soap. An 1889 edition of "Good Housekeeping" advises women to "use tepid water and old castile soap" to wash their hair.
Traditionally, castile soap is an olive oil based, long cured soap named after the historical region of Spain. Eventually, the definition had changed to mean any vegetable oil based soap (as opposed to animal cat soap such as tallow).
Ingredients: Olive oil, water, sodium hydroxide, sea salt.
Net wt.: 4oz/113g
My soaps are handmade, which means that each one is unique and varies depending on the batch. I recommend you drain out any soap dish you use to avoid your soap dissolving faster. Any handmade cold process soap should be stored in a dry area when not in use.
