Susan La Flesche Picotte (1865-1915) was an Omaha tribal member and the first Native woman to become a medical doctor. She campaigned for social reform and for the legal allotment of land to members of the Omaha tribe.

Witch hazel was traditionally used as medicine among Native peoples.
